Christmas 2007

We had a long weekend (4 days) and what did we do? Sleep, watch tv and sleep. Darn! we are becoming pigs. Orr anniversary was hu-hum, Yiek wanted to eat at our favorite Filipino resto, Pandan, but they were full so we had to ask my cousin for another resto, a filipino buffet. The food was so-so but the after effect was not! I had diarrhea after and I had to go to the loo 8 times in 4 hours! Boy oh boy was my butt hurting, the next day I had to go 6 times and the day after 5 times and the next day 5 times, you can just imagine how my butt must be hurting right now! I hope this is cured because my ass is sooo tired! I will never go back to that resto again! What’s worse is that it had me in tears last Saturday night because I had really painful cramps which I thought was pre-term labor but was just really the effect of diarrhea and lots of gas, I can just imagine what REAL labor would feel like. Mama was prodding me to go to ER but I’m scared shitless so I just decided to bear the pain.

See here, since we’ve been married we’ve stopped giving each other Christmas gifts and well, anniversaries is just an excuse for us to go to an expensive dinner. This year just had to be the on top-of-list for sucking big time (the after effect was mean!). We are such a nice couple don’t you think? It could do with SOME improvements and we did buy LCD tv so that is our Christmas gift for ourselves. It’s just so funny that we are busy buying and wrapping gifts for others and we don’t even have gifts for ourselves!

We spent Christmas at Yiek’s officemate and Yiek ate his heart out when he saw Spicy Ginataang Langka with hipon (favorite daw niya). It was fun but still very different back home. On Christmas day itself, we stayed at home and had hotdog, take-homes from last night (wow naman! tsk!) and sinigang for dinner. What a Christmas!!!

For New Year, I’m not sure yet where we will be, maybe go to Hoboken and see NYC’s fireworks? Not sure yet but I came prepared this time around, I’ve already marinated my ham (joyously stabbing the meat with a fork while thinking of Yiek’s face) and I’ll bake some cheesecake. This way our day will be more festive than just some hotdog and leftovers!

For now, I’m busy planning my December next year. LOL! I’m surfing now for Palawan which I’m planning as an anniversary treat. Which is better El Nido or Coron? Been also surfing the net for baby’s possible party supplier in Cebu for his first birthday. I see that there are foodcarts, balloon pillars, inflatable toys, magicians and other things. Makes every Mommy lose her senses and get crazy with the planning. LOL! I am that advance eh? I sooo want to go home next year and here I am dreaming and dreaming. Can I now book our tickets? Three please. Ok wake up Claire!

oh! oh! Before I forget, we want to Thank our friends for the Christmas pressies. It’s funny because it’s suppose to be for us but the items that we got were baby items, not all though. I guess this comes with parenthood, kids first before Mommy and Daddy. LOL! Got a really, really cute cookie monster shoes for baby. Can’t wait to use them. 3 more weeks before I’ll be full-term. yay! Baby can pop anytime after that.

Baby @ 34 weeks

pregnancy

30 weeks: 7 more weeks to go ’til Baby Cal will be a full-term baby. By then I’ll be praying “Lord -sana lumabas na siya di ko na kerry!!!”. I feel as if my tummy is all baby. I’ve gained 23 pounds dammit!!!! so much for my goal of 25 pounds all in all. He has been kicking everywhere especially my lungs. My breasts are sore (it grew again hurrah! mahigpit na bra ko eh) and I’m aching everywhere i.e. backache, bladder ache, rib ache, pekpek ache at kung ano-ano pa. Last Saturday, we bought a lot of onesies, 2 blankets, some cutie sweaters and overalls and very very small booties. I opened one sample diaper and I still could not imagine myself handling a baby. Huuuwwaaa, I feel I’m not ready yet! I’m not ready!!!! Yet I really really want “THE” day to come sooner. How confusing can I be? I’m having pre-baby jitters if there is such a thing.

Week 31: I bet Mommy feels like I’m trying to claw my way out! 6 more weeks ’til full term. Can’t wait! We now have a cutie fisherprice rainforest playard, this will double as his bassinet and crib. I figured this is more economical than a crib since babies usually outgrow it quickly. The playard plays 6 jungle mixed lullaby songs and the mobile toys are really cute! I can’t believe how expensive baby clothes are, already I have spent $100 for his clothing and its still not enough. The cheapest that I found so far were a set of 4 onesies for $5. Sus, kung nasa pinas lang ako, bibili ako sa divi no! Also, I’m pretty confused on whether I should buy NB size or 0-3 months. I bought more 0-3 months stuff anyway just so baby can use it longer. I’m not spending more than $50 on his clothes this weekend, so help me God! They are all so cute and those girly stuff? Like those cute pink sleeper or the cute flowery onesie, Yiek had to drag me out of there. LOL! I’m sick of blue!!! Also Yiek’s officemate gave us a Ralph Lauren sleeper, wow buti pa si baby sosyal!

Week 34: Getting heavier. I’ve just been so lazy doing updates. I’ve had diarrhea for 4 days now, thanks to the fish I ate at some Filipino buffet, grrr!!! It’s a nice touch too, Christmas and I can’t even enjoy the food. GREAT! Just this evening while having my relaxing bubble bath, I noticed that milk comes out when I squeeze my boobies. Oh yeah! Now I’m going to be a milking cow.

Laundry Woes

I hate having to go outside and do the laundry, more so now that its freezing and it takes eons for us to move our butt.

I would have wanted to move to an apartment with a washer and dryer but those apartments are quite expensive. We did find one with a Stackable Washer Dryer (these are very good if you want to save space) but it was beside a busy street and we couldn’t compensate with the noise.

Next apartment, its my pre-requisite! I wouldn’t move if there is no washer and dryer, its me having a less stress free life.

Visiting Europe

It has always been a dream of mine to go to Europe, I would have wanted a Euro tour before becoming pregnant but I would have reached beyond my “prime” childbearing age before being able to do so, so I decided to be sperminized. LOL!

Now that Georgia is in UK, I think this Euro Dream can come true. There is no denying that Europe is expensive, but no worry there are still hotels that are affordable if you look hard enough.

Among my must see place is Rome, who wouldn’t want to see the Vatican and Colosseum. Next would be the romantic Venice. 2009? Perhaps.

A gift from my gorgeous sis

Today, I receive a gift from Georgia, my gorgeous and smart (deadly combination) bestpren. I was hoping to open the gift this christmas but Mr. Pesky had to open the box! Seeing the wrapped gift (ang galing mag wrap nang amazon grabe! parang 7th grader ang nag wrap nyehehe), I couldn’t contain myself and ripped it apart.  I couldn’t believe that she gave me a Nintendo DS Lite, pink pa! I was only jesting that I want one for myself because I know it’s quite expensivo and you can just imagine how my jaw dropped after opening the gift. Love talaga ako ng bestpren ko, tenk u tenk u! My Christmas won’ t be lonely no more, I have the ds lite to play with.

Excuse me while I’m busy searching for Cooking Mama and Legend of Zelda so I can finally play with my new toy.

An Early Christmas Gift

Our gift to thy selves arrive today. Yiek is deliriously happy while I on the other hand is flabbergasted at how big the screen is. It fills up our whole living room! BIG tv = Empty pockets = wife not too happy about the expenses but couldn’t stop watching the tv = husband who felt like he won the lottery.

Our 46″ Sony Bravia LCD TV

Our imac is dwarfed by our tv.

The fat lady who ate a BIG ball and the kick-ass tv

The pesky husband is inspecting the tv pixel by pixel. He is saying that there is some minor clouding which by the way I can’t see no matter how I cross my eyes. He is sooo O.C. I want to strangle him!

Credit Score headache

Last Saturday, we received a mail that had us reviewing all our financial activity. It slapped us in the face that it is really, really tedious to maintain a “good” credit history here in U.S. We applied for an Amazon visa card last October and it gave us a $2500 credit limit. The letter stated that they would be decreasing our limit to 1300 because we have too many accounts opened and too many credit reviews. What the f*ck! It had us scramming and paying $25 just to check of any fraudulent activity on his history. Thank God there weren’t any! Nakakapraning kasi, we shred all our papers where our names and addresses are found. You have to be vigilant that you won’t be a victim of thievery. My cousin was a victim but he luckily detected it early.

Yiek had only opened a total of 4 credit cards, 2 of them were store cards (with limit of $200-300). If you open up an account here, it requires a credit check, so far he had 7 credit checks in a span of 11 months. Apparently, that is too much! Those credit checks included credit check for our new apartment, our phone subscription and other needed credit checks.

It’s really, really hard maintaining a good credit history. If you are planning to get a car loan then better not do any credit checks and don’t spend more than 50% of your total credit limit. Doing so would affect the interest rate that would be given to you. Ang o.a. naman ng country nito! Pucha!

Yiek got really dissapointed with the decrease of credit limit because he thought he couldn’tbuy his dream tv. He was behaving like a petulant child, blaming me for not agreeing to buy it earlier where the credit limit was still 2500. Its turns out that we need to apply for a new credit card to obtain the 18 months to pay at 0% scheme. We can’t very well apply for another credit card because pancit masisira na naman yung credit history. Hay, ba’t naman kasi ang o.a. dito eh. Kung sa pinas lang yan ay naku and dali dali mag apply no!

Exchange rate ranting

The current exchange rate is $41.xx, haaaayyy!!!! If I weren’t paying our condo for xxx amount of dollars back home, then it wouldn’t bother me that much but heck, I hate it when the exchange rate goes down it makes going here almost NOT worth it.

If only we can save $xx,xxx then we can pay off our condo back home and not think about the exchange rate! Sure there will always be association dues but that’s just a few $xx so its not really heavy on our pocket. Why did we buy a condo? why? why? Hopefully we will see the fruits of our labor soon so the headache will be worth it.

It’s almost christmas season here and we haven’t done our christmas shopping yet. When have I ever been an early shopper? I remember shopping on the 24th for gifts back home, I always buy gifts faster when I’m under pressure. LOL!

December 21 will be our 3rd anniversary and I want a GIFT! You hear me I want a GIFT. LOL! Yiek is such an unromantic a**hole, never ever did I have an anniversary gift, never ever for the past 9 years. I think I deserve one this year don’t you think, I deserve one for all the hassle of this pregnancy right? Its not easy being pregnant ya know, a small token will be most apreciated.

The only gift I’ll be receiving this christmas is from our VPAL-EM Around the World Kris Kringle and I hope I will receive it before 25 since its going to be one heck of a pathetic christmas if I don’t even open a single gift. We don’t have plans yet on where we will be this christmas, I don’t like this holiday, it makes me miss home a lot and it gets me real lonely. No matter where we will be, I’m be cooking home-made ham and cheesecake, just to remember what it was like back home. Please next year sana makauwi na kami. I so miss Cebu! heck, I even miss Manila.
