Year 2005
This has been a good year.
A year where a learned to be independent.
A year where I learned to cook and dammit, I am still a bad cook.
A year where I threw caution to the wind and took a high risk job (No regrets here..what with the fat pay check and mentally challenging job. I am damn lucky).
A year where I cried buckets because of household chores but hey! I’ve slowly learned to accept my role. Do I have a choice?
A year full of travels (Singapore, Vigan, Baguio and Puerto Gallera.) and many more to come too!
A year full of giggles and laughter.
A year where I finally grew up!
Yes,I have a lot to be thankful for. Life couldn’t be more perfect than what I have right now.
Cheers! A belated Christmas and Happy New to y’all.

..we had a fight the night before because I wouldn’t let you “french kiss” me. It was our wedding the next day, so I wanted to preserve my lips LOL! So, you felt bad and we had a little spat.
.. I couldn’t sleep because I was busy thinking what needs to be done.
.. I coudn’t even eat right although there were mounds and mounds of breakfast food.
.. I couldn’t describe what I was feeling. To say there were butterflies in my stomach is an understatement.
.. the day breezed by so fast and it felt so surreal.
..but by the end of the day we hugged and kissed (all right we did more than that! We obtained our license afterall LOL!), you and me became We.
Haapy Anniversary to both us. This year was certainly filled with new discoveries and adventures.

Oatmeal cookies for me and you
My mother gifted me with an oven last october because she wanted me to bake. See here, I am not a very good cook when it comes to dishes but I can be very good when it comes to baking or am I just promoting myself? LOL!
Along with the oven she also gave me a supply of dark chocolate bar, choco chips, gelatin and other baking needs. I have been itching to bake but I was too lazy and kuriput to buy other baking needs, i.e. scraper and beater.
See, I’ve been baking since I was 10 years old. My mother always encourages us kids, I think I’m using the wrong term here, nag would be more appropriate, to bake since she LOVES baking and wanted to pass her skill on us. She used to have a charcoal based homemade oven wherein she would make sweet bread and other baked goodies.
My first trial was the macaroons, it was delicious. Then I learned to make different variety of chocolate cakes. I used to make cookies just so I can mold it into any form I like. It’s no wonder that I was the best baker of chiffon cake on our home economics class, sa group ko lang naman (I’m promoting myself again hehehe).
Yesterday, I was very tired from our christmas shopping and down because I have spent all my salary on buying the gifts. Huhuhu. Oh! well. Christmas only comes once a year so I’d better share my blessings.
I was browsing through my kitchen and I saw my baking supplies. I had the sudden urge to cook oatmeal cookies and at 12:00 am at that!
But I lost my mojo since Yiek took a long time to move his butt and accompany me to the local 24 hour shop. So I promised that I will cook today. As of now, I waiting for the cookies to cook so lets see if the reviews were true for this recipe. It smells good, I hope it tastes just as good.
It is also a good thing that there is a baking shop nearby, when we got there, my eyes were ogling from all the chocolate bars that were displayed there. There where white chocolate bars and chips, colored choc’let bars (red, yellow, green), nuts (macadamia, walnut, cashiew) and other baking goodies. I had to restrain myself by not buying a piece of everything. Knowing me I love buying but too lazy to use what I bought. So i just bought some white chocolate chips, chocolate sprinkles and flour.
The first batch came out all right. I like the chewy taste but the husband would like it sweeter
and the oatmeal more finer. So next time , I’ll bake this I’ll pound the oatmeal ’til they surrender and break into teeny tiny pieces and I’ll add 1/4 cup more of sugar. I think its sweetness is just enough but i think the husband has the sweet tooth of a horse so I’ll make it sweeter next time. Not bad for the first try, I’ll get a 2nd opinion though, I’m bringing some of these to my friends.
Okay, enough. If you want to give it a try. Here is the link to the recipe. I modified it a bit though and added 1/2 cup more of flour, 1/2 tsp of baking soda and cut back 1/2 tsp. on the salt based on the reviews. I’ll modify it some more the next time around since husband wants it sweeter and less chewy.

The jologs in us
–edited 12/13/05–
Guess where we went last friday night?

1. One freakin’ guard mistook me to be JOyce Jimenez. A totally humiliating experience.haller!
2. Stampede!
I am too lazy to write my experience. Just read Ria’s entry here.
Additional chika na lang, Pbb cast were giving out gardernia cakes and we were not in the least interested sosi kami no! hehehe. There was a stampede for lack of term to describe, we were crammed in one corner. Kulang na lang mamatay kami sa kaguluhan nila, feeling namin galing kami ng marathon. Sakit ng katawan namin!
Since we were afraid that we might be seen on tv, we would hide and pretend there is something interesting on the floor everytime the camera would point at us. But it was worth it, we saw all casts of pbb. An end to our addiction.

No hope here…
Some pinoys especially taxi drivers can be such an arrogant bastard:
This happened this morning:
We were taking a cab and upon paying (Bill is 65):
Me : Bigyan mo na lang ako ng 40, bibigyan kita ng 5.
Me: Ay..4 pesos lang pala change ko
Bastard Taxi Driver (BTD) : ako pa ang lugi, bigyan mo na lang ako ng 30.
Me (thinking): no choice naman ako palagi eh..
And he took my 5 pesos away. Did he ever think that it was not ok with me to just take my 5 pesos.I am not rich you know?
I really hate taxi drivers here in Manila. They don’t give the exact change. Hood wink you into believing that they really don’t have the change. I once gave a taxi driver 25 php because I was in a hurry and siya pa ang may mukha na magsabi na lugi siya dahil kulang ako ng PISO. What the fuck?!?!? I’ve lost hope in the Philippines. I am really fed up with the ATTITUDE of some pinoys, moreso with the corrupt politicians.

Badminton Aches

This weekend was TIRING. We were suppose to start playing badminton at 9:00 AM but my playmates didn’t arrive on time so we were forced to transfer to another location since Galaxy Badminton center will close in a few minutes.
It was FUN. We played for 2 hours straight, what a friday night gimik! We went home around 12:45 am and I was soo dead tired, that I just collapsed on the bed.
When I woke up, I was aching all over up until now my right arm is still aching!
We then went to 168 mall in divisoria. Ang daming TAO!!! We shopped and shopped until 8:00 PM. My feet were aching and we were a few thousands poorer.
We immediately went to Ria and Guia’s condo in the hope of catching up the last eviction night of PBB. Nabitin kami! (Chismax: Break na pala sina say at jb hehehe)
We went to glorietta to have our lunch, and to buy Yiek’s sought after headphones. We went from mobile store to mobile store to no avail. Yiek was pissed because there wasn’t one available and like a spoiled child was throwing tantrums and dagger looks at me. He even went home alone leaving me alone in glorietta. Up until now, he still hasn’t forgiven me for NOT letting him buy the headphones 2 weeks ago. Parang bata talaga! Spoiled talaga tong mister ko!!!
I was happy though, because the clerk at piandre allowed me to avail the expired gift certificate. So I had an impromtu hair spa yesterday.
What a tiring weekend!

Weekend High
This week I found out that I have 3 new visitors in this little space of mine. Welcome Ritchie, Shem and Ai2x. Enjoy my senseless rants. hehehe.
I used to not worry about household expenses. MY parents used to provide me all those comforts. Electricity and household bills were not my concern either. Even cleaning the house is not my problem. All I had to do was sleep, watch tv, eat and just generally be a couch potato. But now that we are living in our love nest. I feel the pinch of spending for the household expenses. I now curse e-vat because prices have shoot up and so does my weekly grocery budget.
Buying just 2 pcs. of bell peppers would cost me 30 php. I was buying some veggies in a “kanto” store, guess what I got with my 100 php. 1/4 cabbage, 3 bell peppers, a dozen of sitao and a piece of talong. Geez! Everything is so expensive nowadays. I am currently cursing LAbadera, 1 bed sheet=130 php. I can buy a new bed sheet for that!!!
Tonight, I’m trying my hand in badminton. I’m so excited since I just bought all my equipment last night and tomorrow I’ll start with my christmas shopping in divisoria. Shopping always get me high! hehehe
